Hi all need some help we've moved into a house and after taking wallpaper off the walls are awful I've patched filled the bits I could. As it took the yellow paint off that was on walls i've had a decorater round who has suggested lining paper and says walls are smooth when they are far from .ideally I wanted the walls plastered I've. Never used lining paper before I don't no what to do as in trying to get it right for my son

Lining paper is just like thin wallpaper. You can apply it in exactly the same way, or you can apply it horizontally.
    It hides minor blemishes.
There is a product in France, I don't know if it's available in UK. I don't know what it's called. It's more like a fibreglass mesh, heavier than a lining paper, and it's stuck on with proper glue.
I've never used it, I wouldn't want to try removing it, but it does more than hide minor blemishes, it stabilises friable surfaces.

Wallrock paste the wall lining. Roll the ready mixed paste on the wall with a paint roller and hang the wallrock. Fine filler in joints when dry and 400g sand if needed. Some use gardz then paint while other just paint straight on.

Or get the walls skimmed, as that what most want for best result.

Or cheap as chips naff lining paper. Paste on pasting board and hang.. Harder work though

I agree with you decorators advice, 1400 grade lining paper or WallRock 180 plus fibre liner will be fine, those walls do not look anywhere near as bad as you are making out to be honest.;)

I agree with both of you. Lining paper would be the perfect solution for your damaged wall and minor blemishes will be removed.
